Why this matters
About 1 in 5 LGB adults smoke cigarettes vs. 1 in 9 straight adults.
Among transgender adults, the percentage of cigarette smokers is 35% higher than among straight adults.
Smoking while on estrogen hormone therapy increases the risk of blood clots, which can lead to stroke or heart attack.
Contributing factors include internalized homophobia, stigma-related stress, and negative reactions to coming out.
Tobacco companies have historically marketed directly to the LGBTQ+ community, which is already medically underserved—raising risks for lung disease and smoking-related complications.
What you’ll get (included in your fee)
Eight in-person sessions led by trained facilitators
Participant workbook to track progress and build skills
Non‑pharmaceutical “quit kits” (tools & resources to support quitting)
