the rainbow clubhouse
The Rainbow Clubhouse is a safe-space support group for families of gender-expansive children up to age 12, offering two parallel groups that meet simultaneously. The youth playgroup provides a supportive and social environment where children can engage in play, build friendships, and express themselves freely. Rather than focusing solely on gender or emotions, the emphasis is on inclusive play and connection.
This group is supervised by a professional with over 20 years of childcare experience, along with an additional experienced adult. At the same time, parents and guardians meet in a separate group designed to offer support, shared experiences, and resources. Topics may include navigating schools, talking to extended family, and finding affirming professionals.
This group is facilitated by a LOFT staff member experienced in working with families of trans youth and may occasionally feature guest speakers or recommended reading lists. The Rainbow Clubhouse meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Registration is required to receive the location details.
To maintain privacy and ensure a safe environment, new families must complete an intake form before attending. Siblings of gender-expansive children are welcome to join the playgroup, while infants must remain with their parents at all times.
