The TransMission Cycle 5 Recipients have been selected!

We are proud to share that $10,000 has been awarded across 20 scholarships to support TGNCNB individuals in their journeys. For the safety and privacy of our awardees, we will not be sharing names or photos. However, we’d like to uplift some of their messages of gratitude below.

"While this may be a small grant in the grand scheme of things, to me, it means everything. It relieves a financial burden, allowing me to focus on my healing without the added stress of covering extra costs. Beyond the financial help, though, this support means something even greater—it reminds me that I am not alone. In a time when being trans feels increasingly precarious, knowing that there are people and organizations willing to stand behind me is profoundly meaningful. Your generosity is more than just assistance; it is affirmation, solidarity, and hope. Thank you for making this journey a little easier and a lot more supported. I will carry this kindness with me." - Cycle 5 Recipient

"I transitioned socially in my early 20s, with one of my biggest hurdles to pursuing top surgery being my access to funds. Despite working full-time to support myself, medical costs are no joke. With this grant it's even more possible for me." - Cycle 5 Recipient

"The funds from this scholarship are so greatly appreciated, as I have no insurance, so the impact is great. I will continue to be an advocate for anyone wishing to be themselves and those who feel they must hide themselves, which, for me, affected (and still affects) my mental and emotional health. No one should have to live their entire lives hidden and surrounded by the darkness. " - Cycle 5 Recipient

"I am a Black autistic nonbinary man of Jamaican heritage...[a] neurodivergent, disabled student in the South, I navigate systemic barriers to economic stability and quality health care. The TransMission Scholarship is moving me towards affording top surgery this year! I am excited for my body to feel more comfortable and for me to feel more affirmed in my gender." - Cycle 5 Recipient

”I am a Black queer and non-binary trans person who is also a literary artist and educator. I have been trying very hard to secure funds that would allow me to get electrolysis for my stubborn, coarse facial hair. This scholarship will allow me to start treatments and start my journey to gender euphoria!” - Cycle 5 Recipient

“I've been binding my chest for fourteen years, and the chronic pain and other health issues that come along with that make it hard to bind for forty hours a week at a "normal" in-person job. Instead, I have three contract positions—a mixture of unreliable, seasonal remote work and a few in-person gigs per month—which do not come with health insurance and which make it hard to afford my bills and my HRT. This scholarship will allow me to afford my hormones and the associated blood work out of pocket while I continue to look for more stable work. Thank you for taking some of the pressure off of these sore shoulders!” - Cycle 5 Recipient

“I've always thought my transition had to be something I faced alone. I'm someone who tends to take the role of the provider or supporter. Being transgender has been an isolating experience given my conservative upbringing, but I realize it doesn't have to be. With the support of this scholarship, the barrier of medical transition has been lessened for me, as I can now use this scholarship to fund life-saving, gender affirming surgery. Now more than ever, we need to show that there's solidarity, support, and aid for the transgender community. This scholarship is a shining example of that solidarity.” - Cycle 5 Recipient
